Dr. Patrick Kronner

Director Dr. Patrick Kronner, a native of Chesterfield, Michigan, serves as Organist and Choral Program Director at the University of Notre Dame where he directs the Magnificat Choir and the Community Choir. He received his Doctorate and Masters of Music from Indiana University where he studied with Dr. Janette Fishell, and holds a Bachelor of Music from Oakland University. In 2009, Patrick was awarded the Hollingsworth Fund Award and traveled to Herford, Germany, serving as the assistant organist at Herforder Münsterkirche and studying at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Herford. In 2013, Kronner returned to Herford to assist at the Minster and to concertize throughout Europe. The “virtuoso organist from Detroit thrilled… and surprised” (Mindener Tageblatt) audiences as he presented a dozen recitals of primarily American organ music. Highlights of the tour include the Martin-Luther-Kirche in Linz, Austria; the Grote Kerk in Emmen, Netherlands; and the Jocobi-Kirche in Göttingen, Germany. His recent doctoral dissertation, Made in America: The Organ Works of Arthur Foote, explores the organ works of this important American composer.

Hehn
Dr. Jonathan Hehn

Assistant Director Dr. Jonathan Hehn was born and raised in the small town of Thomasville, Georgia. He knows and loves the South, and has lived there for most of his life. He began studying the piano at age five and the organ at age fifteen. His first organ teacher was Rick Carlson, long-time organist at First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville and alumnus of Northwestern University, where he was a student of Wolfgang Rubsam. Jonathan earned both a Bachelor of Music and Doctor of Music in Organ in performance from Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he was a student of Michael Corzine, and where he did doctoral research on Sacred Music and Liturgy in the Presbyterian tradition. His Master’s Degree in Sacred Music (theology major) is from the University of Notre Dame, where he studied organ with Craig Cramer. He also holds the Colleague and Choirmaster Certificates of the AGO, and became a “Rising Star” after winning the Regional Competition for Young Organists in Atlanta in 2007. He has studied choral conducting with Kevin Fenton, Nancy Menk, and Andre Thomas. He currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Liturgical Choir at the University of Notre Dame, and frequently publishes articles in the areas of sacred music and liturgy. Jonathan is part of a religious order called the Order of Saint Luke (www.saint-luke.net), which informs all aspects of his life, and at the present is also going through the candidacy process to become a Lutheran deacon. He has been happily married to his wonderful spouse Kelly since 2006 and has three small children.
